10 Things Young India want from its Government

It is said that the strength of a nation is determined by the strength of its youth. India which is set to become the youngest nation by 2020 has approximately 450 million youth population. If they get what they need, then there is nothing that can stop us. Swami Vivekananda always emphasized about the capabilities and the power of youth and what they can achieve if they get the right tools and support. On this 70th Independence Day, here are 10 things that this young India wants from its government -
  1. Change in education system: Children are overburdened with syllabus and even a 99% score can’t guarantee you a seat in good college. The emphasis of education should be more on providing practical knowledge than theoretical only.
  2.  Encouragement to sports: Despite brilliant performance of India in various sports, parents and society discourage children to opt for sports. Sports should be given the same importance as academic education.
  3. Job opportunities: The one of the biggest problems that youth face is finding employment these days. The number of jobs are much lesser than the students graduating every year. Hence they either are unemployed or suffer disguised unemployment.
  4. More start-up platforms: Young minds often come up with some innovative and creative ideas for both technology and business. They need more platform to showcase their talent.
  5. Basic Amenities : They need better infrastructure, cleaner roads, safer drinking water and an open defecation free country.
  6. Freedom from Caste Reservation: The youth wants that reservations should be done on financial basis rather than on caste as it will benefit more people.
  7. Drug free India: With lot of youth under depression due to unemployment, drugs provide a sort of relief to them. Government should tighten the grip over the easy drug distribution.
  8. No discrimination: They demand transparency in law and asks people to rise above hate, caste, creed, race and religion.
  9. Right to Know the Truth: Young India wants to know the real truth not fake news about the performance of government.
  10. Safety : The roads of the country should be made more safer for everyone.Local law enforcement should be increased.
To be more precise, the young Indians wants a government that builds better infrastructure, educates its people , provides safety, security and more platforms to fulfill their dreams. As Swami Vivekananda quoted "What we want are some young men who will renounce everything and sacrifice their lives for their country's sake. We should first form their lives and then some real work can be expected".Is there anything that I missed? Feel free to share.

It's high time we combat Fake News

With more than 56 crore internet users in India, rumours and misinformation spread across the nation like a wildfire. This misleading information in the form of fake videos, images , memes,  advertisements and messages is spread through various digital forms of communication and then through the word of mouth. Even popular news channels become the victim and source of these fake news (Credit:Youtube) A popular rumour that spread across the social media app Whatsapp back in 2016 was, that the new Rs.2000 note had a GPS tracker in it. Well it sounded kind of a joke to us, but many people believed that it was true. Also similar rumour that appeared was that the Rs 10 coins circulated in the market are fake, making auto-drivers and vegetable vendors to discontinue the exchange of currency. This 15 Jan, India observed its 70th Armed Forces Day (Army Day). The Indian Army is the third biggest military contingent in the world. It was formed in 1776 and since then it was brought laurels to the nation. Army Day is celebrated annually to mark the take over of General K M Cariappa as Commander of Chief of India on 15 Jan, 1949. Since then India has won many wars but there is still one fire, one war that started but never ended, a conflict between two world's most powerful nations, the nations that were once one - India and Pakistan.
