Blue Whale (challenge) : A whale that ended many lives

It was hard to imagine when the rumors about a game/challenge that started claiming many lives in Europe and Russia began to spread. How come a game claim so many lives?
What can be so addicting or challenging about a game that one didn't stop playing it until it get's finished? While reading this you will be surprised to know that India ranks no. 1 for highest Blue Whale related searches worldwide according to Google Data.

The name Blue Whale first came into light when the police came to know that there were some things common about all the recent suicide of teens. Following are the things that were quite common in all the victims and parents must look out for in the children:
  • They all started behaving odd for the past few days.
  • They preferred to stay alone.
  • The used to woke up at rather unusual times , because some of the tasks involved doing them late night.
  • They were depressed, aggressive and felt fear and anxiety for most of the time.
  • They pulled themselves out of the social lives and stopped their daily routine habits.
  • They all ended their lives.
Blue Whale Challenge is a series of 50 tasks, whose last task is to end up their lives. These 50 tasks are risky and involve dealing in dangerous situations or doing physical damage.The administrators of the games interact with the children using their social posts.They watch out for children that seems to be depressed and tired of his daily life. They interact with them slowly and gradually and make up their mind to play it. They are asked to send regular screenshots of each task they complete. If a participant ever tries to quit a game in a middle of a task then he/she is being blackmailed, or frightened or given threats of doing damage to their close ones. What happens next is that the participant never quits and performs the ultimate task. This game has already taken up so many lives in Europe and many cases were reported in India as well.

What to do?

  • Watch out for sudden change of behavior in kids.
  • Parents should discuss about pros and cons of social media platform.
  • Parents should ask their children whether they are facing any problems in their life.
  • Children should openly discuss their every problem to their parents or their teachers.
  • Teachers should arrange for counselling sessions of children in school or colleges.
Though the creator of this phycopathic game is serving his sentence in jail, but this game is still looking out for more innocent lives to claim. So be aware. Stay safe and advice others the same.
