Saving the Unreserved - Reservation System

The joint entrance examination committee recently announced the jee main scores and ranks along with the announcement of JEE advance Cutoff marks. With a lot anticipation among children to get admissions in the top institutes, this year’s cut off was pretty low as compared to last year’s.
While the general’s cut off dropped to 81 from 100 last year’s while it dropped to 49 from 70 ,and 32 from 52, and 27 from 48 for Scheduled Caste , Scheduled Tribe respectively. This year’s cut off brought happiness to students and their parents due to low cutoff. But this maybe an indicating warning about the upcoming problem. Many general category students may have been in good or better colleges if there were no reservations. As these students are exposed to this reservation system so  some of them extensively rely on this in upcoming opportunities in life due to lack of skills.
Like seats in the colleges are reserved, 50% of the government jobs are reserved as well. So that means, if there are 10 vacancies for a job and out of 20 applicants 10  are meritorious general category students, so despite of there outstanding resumes at least 5 jobs would be offered to remaining reserved class applicants. So our government officials may lack the required potential. I'm NOT saying they are incompetent. What I'm saying is that even the competent ones refuse to work efficiently because of this complacency.
On 23rd May 2015 Violence erupted in the state of Rajasthan when police fired on protesters belonging to the Gurjar Caste who were demanding a higher schedule tribe status, instead of their current OBC (Other Backward Class) status. Atleast 37 people were killed, and a lot of state property damage was reported. But one thing that never got highlighted was that on the next day the biggest engineering exam was to be held, JEE Advance ( an exam that could change your fortune), but unaware of the protest, many children failed to reach the examination centre as lot of trains and roads were diverted. Who will give the justice to those students who have been preparing for it for last 2-3 years or those who dropped to prepare failed to reach the centre due to bunch of people demanding their reservations, it pretty well shows how educated or well deserving are they, and then they need seats in the govt colleges.

Reservation shouldn’t be done on the basis of caste system, it should be based on financial basis and will benefit more people.Earlier it used to be that the SC/ST people were the depressed classes and financially poor. But their situations have now been improved and hence should be given equal status and treatment like the General Category, or else the General Category people will need to be get special reservations due to lack of their reservation.

Truth Behind Some Common Superstitions In India

MYTH AND MYTHOLOGY Have you ever been pointed out by your parents or elders over cutting nails inside the house at night? If yes have you ever wondered why they tell so? What is the reason behind it and should we really need to stop cutting nails at night? Let’s find out as I explain the truth behind some myths and superstitions prevailing in India. Cutting Nails at Night As I already discussed about it earlier, so why is this still said not to cut nails at night. This myth belongs to that times when we used lamps or candles to lighten up our house at night and at that time we didn’t have nail cutters to cut our nails. Sharp objects like blades/knives or stones were used to cut. Such sharp objects can cause serious injuries if used in low visibility such at night, therefore it was advised not to cut at night. And what about doing it inside the house? The cut nails can prick into someone’s foot and can cause pain. Offering prayers to some plants In India we conside...

It's high time we combat Fake News

With more than 56 crore internet users in India, rumours and misinformation spread across the nation like a wildfire. This misleading information in the form of fake videos, images , memes,  advertisements and messages is spread through various digital forms of communication and then through the word of mouth. Even popular news channels become the victim and source of these fake news (Credit:Youtube) A popular rumour that spread across the social media app Whatsapp back in 2016 was, that the new Rs.2000 note had a GPS tracker in it. Well it sounded kind of a joke to us, but many people believed that it was true. Also similar rumour that appeared was that the Rs 10 coins circulated in the market are fake, making auto-drivers and vegetable vendors to discontinue the exchange of currency. Fake News Virus spreading faster than the Corona-Virus When the whole world is fighting with the recent COVID-19 corona virus pandemic, there is another fight that governments ...

Are We Doing Enough to Stop Cross-Border Terrorism?

This 15 Jan, India observed its 70th Armed Forces Day (Army Day). The Indian Army is the third biggest military contingent in the world. It was formed in 1776 and since then it was brought laurels to the nation. Army Day is celebrated annually to mark the take over of General K M Cariappa as Commander of Chief of India on 15 Jan, 1949. Since then India has won many wars but there is still one fire, one war that started but never ended, a conflict between two world's most powerful nations, the nations that were once one - India and Pakistan. There have been regular violations and cease fires from Pakistan in India over the past 2 years which have tested our patience. Sundar Pattnaik's art depicts Stop Bullets, Be Friends  The question arises is that are we doing enough to stop or prevent these cross border terrorism or not ? It is estimated that there were about 770 cross border violations and militant attacks around the Line of Control (LOC), to which Indian Arm...
